Dominowe is one of the primary artists associated with Durban, South Africa's gqom scene. As with other gqom producers, his music is hypnotic, tense, and driving, slowly building up suspense through minimalist electronic rhythms. Dominowe's "Africa's Cry" was the opening track to the compilation Gqom Oh! The Sound of Durban, Vol. 1, which was released to much acclaim in 2016.
