Don Carlos (real name Carlo Troja) was one of the cult Italian producers of international DJs in the 1990s.
His track "Alone," released in 1991 on Irma Records, was and still is a house classic, played by all the major American and British DJs.
It wasn't very popular at the time, but over the years the song's legend has grown, thanks in part to subsequent releases, such as his second single, "Mediterraneo," which later inspired his first CD album, released exclusively in the US, of the same title, which also included the two singles.
Several other singles followed, as well as a second album, also released in the US, titled "Aqua," which was later released as a triple vinyl album. In 2002, his third album, also on IRMA, was released, titled "The Music In My Mind," featuring guest vocals from Michelle Weeks, Taka Boom, and Kevin Bryant. His fourth album, "The Cool Deep," was released in 2010. Also active as a remixer, his most notable works include Byron Stingily's remix of the song "You Make Me Feel," which turned it into a worldwide hit. As a producer, he has also used other aliases such as Montego Bay, Aquanuts, Sotterranea, and Love 2 Love Orchestra. In 2020, he released an album of reissued previously unreleased material titled Livin' A Dream.
