Holland's unimaginatively named Donor was a short-lived, early-'90s progressive thrash band whose highly technical style -- along with the ear-piercing vocals of Ard van Bers -- reminded many of those who heard them of Texas' legendary Watchtower. Formed in 1990 and also featuring guitarists Bart Vreken and Jelle Bakker, bassist Cees van Petten, and drummer Toni van Petten, Donor were quickly signed to Belgian independent Mausoleum, and followed their 1992 debut, Triangle of the Lost, with 1994's Release. The latter introduced new singer Richard Dijkman, but by the following year the band was no more, with guitarist Bakker moving on to found alternative metal band Frozen Sun. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
