DONTMAKESENZ

Senzo Zuma commonly known as “DONTMAKESENZ” began his sound journey at 11 years old in a music class where he was asked to write a song. He decided to go with Hip-Hop and Rap. “The song, I wrote was a reflection of my age of course but it was filled with recognisable rhyme schemes and melodies. Every line seemed to tell a story.” A while later he realized that he should invest himself in the world of lyricism because of Logic. At 15 years old he realised he was a gifted poet. He had a way with stories and words, and other peoples stories interested him. He’s even gone on to say “I am more gifted in that than in music.” He decided to use his talents in poetry through music. Having grown up in a house hold where music was as diverse as it can get. He learned at an early age that he needed to learn to bend genres and form his own truth in music. Musicians like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Shania Twain and Elton John, to Zola 7, Boom Shaka, Tupac and a long list of others were played in his early years. He soon got into listening to all genres around the age of 16 and making music holistically as well. Over the following years, the likes of Frank Ocean, XXXTENTACION, Nirvana, Black Coffee, Jaden and Willow Smith, Lana Del Ray, Blxckie, Vegyn and Trippy Redd would become main inspirations to his music.
