Doofus

Doofus is an indie music project of a group of highschool friends from Manila, Philippines. The band is comprised of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, PJ Polhen, lead guitarist, Dan Valeroso, bassist, Ing Rivera, rhythm/lead guitarist, Rodney Esparas, and drummer, Ned Sanchez.

Some of the band members were bandmates in highschool. Ned, PJ and Dan played in a Black Sabbath cover band, with Rodney joining after Ned left and that band even transitioned to Death Metal/Deathcore genre covering songs of Whitechapel, Chelsea Grin, Lamb of God, and even tried to make original songs before ending up separating in 2019. Ing and Rodney also played in an System of A Down and Tool cover band.

Though they all parted ways in the "music scene", they would always hangout since they all live in the same town. After the pandemic lockdown, PJ, influenced by Rodney, Dan, Ing, and Ned, tried to write songs, shifting from Death Metal/Deathcore genre to a relaxed and calm tunes.

Doofus started to perform their songs in 2022 at local gigs in Metro Manila area. For them, it was a trial and error, to see if they would like the new vibe, the songs they came up with, and if they're up for the challenge to enter the mainstream music. After deciding which songs they will continue with, they eventually decided to record, produce and release it independetly.

Doofus's first single titled "Dito" was released independently in May 5, 2023 to all music platforms.
