Doolittle is an alternative rock band from New York, formed by <a href="spotify:artist:4pX8lTiV45YFwvuT2VkqjM" data-name="David Russell">David Russell</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5pgureWBGb0LSpd6IeURAC" data-name="Nordista Freeze">Nordista Freeze</a>, Davis Rowe (<a href="spotify:artist:7MJBivXsykJUNKMUKfKfgx" data-name="Whitehall">Whitehall</a>), Makenzie Correll (<a href="spotify:artist:6QcxAX7Qu3gxz6EJiqKLCI" data-name="Hipsy Gap">Hipsy Gap</a>) and Gemma Guttenberg. Their debut EP, <a href="spotify:album:1y7kzWsVybtaey2iZqO4Sc" data-name="Secret Saturday">Secret Saturday</a> (March 2025), is used as David’s memoir — falling in and out of love. It’s leading track, “<a href="spotify:track:4LZz6itHL7m1P3j9OPicTf" data-name="Breaking Down & Feeling Low">Breaking Down & Feeling Low</a>,” was produced by leading emo producer Billy Manino and the rest of the EP produced and mixed by David. It’s just as careful with its performances as it is arrogant in its raw production. The sound is simply “blending Marshall-stacked guitars with a Nashville storytelling-fare,” drawing a thru-line between <a href="spotify:artist:3oDbviiivRWhXwIE8hxkVV" data-name="The Beach Boys">The Beach Boys</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1HxXNvsraqrsgfmju1yKk8" data-name="Modern Baseball">Modern Baseball</a>, & <a href="spotify:artist:2ptmyXoL7poH6Zq62h1QT9" data-name="Merle Haggard">Merle Haggard</a>.
In a dense city like New York, the scene is often defined by clout and exclusivity. Doolittle disrupts the cliquey, elitist culture with their crowed, questionably legal Brooklyn house parties at Gemma’s apartment. In Brooklyn, they carry the DIY torch. Much like David’s favorite band <a href="spotify:artist:3jOstUTkEu2JkjvRdBA5Gu" data-name="Weezer">Weezer</a>, they’re not here to be cool — they’re here to connect.
