Dr. Kok

Dr. Kok (Yvo Kok-Palma, Texel, 1970) is a Dutch singer-songwriter and re-arranger of pieces by classical composers such as <a href="spotify:artist:5zyNXVd952fWOjkdGHCvPd" data-name="Béla Bartók">Béla Bartók</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0Kekt6CKSo0m5mivKcoH51" data-name="Sergei Rachmaninoff">Sergei Rachmaninoff</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7y97mc3bZRFXzT2szRM4L4" data-name="Frédéric Chopin">Frédéric Chopin</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:459INk8vcC0ebEef82WjIK" data-name="Erik Satie">Erik Satie</a>. He started playing guitar at the age of 10, but he was too stubborn to listen to the advise of his guitar teacher to go to the conservatory. Instead, he obtained a Ph.D. in geophysics. An example of his predilection for the deep, solid earth is his composition <a href="spotify:track:2AUdDy4VGOuvxOOxEjyFfC" data-name="Deep In Earth">Deep In Earth</a>, referring to a small poem by Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849). The American poet has inspired Dr. Kok to record several songs with modern, original arrangements for the classical poems.
