Philadelphia's DRGN King make psychedelic and electronic-inflected pop that draws on a diverse range of influences from Shuggie Otis to the Beatles to Wu-Tang Clan. Originally begun as a collaboration between songwriter Dominic Angelella and hip-hop producer Ritz Reynolds, DRGN King had expanded to a four-piece by 2010. The following year, the band delivered the EP Holy Ghost, as well as a cover of ? & the Mysterians' 1966 hit "96 Tears." In 2013, DRGN King released their debut full-length album, Paragraph Nights, on Bar None. A year later, the band dropped its second long-player, Baltimore Crush, a song cycle about Angelella's childhood in the Charm City that was primarily written while the group was touring in support of Paragraph Nights. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
