Drijfzand was created on All Souls Day in 2014. A group of friends with a crazy idea to start making music. After a year of hard work and it’s fare share of festivals like Leffingeleuren, Paulusfeesten en local youth clubs, small festivals and a release of the single “Your Smile. The band went flat on it’s ass. Other ambitions and college work came first on the list for them.
After a hiatus of 5 years. They went Mariah Carey mode on the project to make their “comeback”. Somewhat older in skin and little more mature in skin, but still with that crazy idea of making music in their heads they went back to work. And started recording music in the background. Small steps at a time.
When Covid-19/Corona started to make it’s mark on the world. Made it some space and freedom to starte creating at full speed ahead for that old project again. With new influences like Mac DeMarco, Conan Mockasin, Tame Impale, Chris Brown,… It gave their sound a whole new redesign. With a lot of renewed energy came also the old desires of back then to go all the way for this project. July the 26th finally came the release of “All Work & No Play” as a small sneak peek of what was about to come. What is coming is heaps of music that Nicolas, Emile and Simon will be working on the coming weeks & months. And hopefully it gave some renewed energy to those old fans from back then.
