The Port Huron native, Drip Matthews also known as Big Drip is no stranger to the struggle life most underground rappers face during their come up. Once belonging to a rap group known as Blakk Mozhpit, Drip found himself losing direction after parting ways with the other band members in 2018. This all happening during the peak moments of the bands career, one of the moments being when they opened up for Detroit's very own Trick-Trick during a show held in Port Huron, Michigan.
Years went by until Drip found inspiration to pick the pen up and forge what we know as his first official LP titled "Heart Felt Fcvk U's". The album mostly consisting of records produced by Drip himself showcases that his hiatus hasn't dulled his lyrical capabilities. The lead single "Food Chain" features the hip hop legend and battle rap forerunner Cassidy as well as Fashun a Hip hop entrepreneur and former member of the musical group Final Draft. In despite of being on the record with those two lyrical moguls Drip holds his own with an onslaught of witty wordplay and never lets the gas off. You would think he has something to prove...and you're right, he does.
In today's climate many rappers pop up with a hot record and then their never heard from again. Not Drip, he produces records, sings, raps and creates artwork and graphics for other rappers. All because he wants to earn his spot in this music industry. He wants to prove it to you and most importantly to himself.
