Driving on the Right are an alternative rock band formed in early 2003 in West London, inspired by groups such as Senseless Things & Girls Against Boys. Those who witnessed their live shows, saw high energy, tight performances, honed touring with the likes of UK post hardcore legends Hell is for Heroes.
Nov 2005 saw the release of the John Hannon (Hundred Reasons) produced debut mini-album “Life starts here” via Bravestar Records. LSH was a brilliant marriage of big choruses and angular riffs inspired by the underground, earning strong reviews, including 8/10 from Metal Hammer and 4/5 from Kerrang!, making DOTR a band to watch out for on the UK underground scene.
Despite this initial success, the band sadly announced their split in early 2006, without fulfilling their obvious potential. In the years that followed, Nick, Paul, Lee and Jason continued to perform and record music, including vocalist Jason’s follow up project Eight Rounds and Lee’s regular collaborations with Mark Keds’ post-Senseless Things bands including Deadcuts.
To mark the 20th anniversary of ‘Life Starts Here’, is being reissued on streaming platforms as well as a new single, ‘Confidence’ produced by Morgan Nicholls (Senseless Things, Muse) and mastered at Tonteknik Studios in Sweden. These new releases allow those fans from the past the chance to listen to their records again, and at the same time introducing Driving on the Right to a new generation of listeners.
