Ds1!

Drawing inspiration from the fuzz and punk rock movements, Phoenix-based DS1! fashions complex rock tracks by layering genre-blending effects and vocals over signature downtuned, heavy guitar riffs. Heavily influenced by <a href="spotify:artist:58XGUNsRNu3cVOIOYk5chx" data-name="Ty Segall">Ty Segall</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:33EUXrFKGjpUSGacqEHhU4" data-name="Iggy Pop">Iggy Pop</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:75U40yZLLPglFgXbDVnmVs" data-name="The Mars Volta">The Mars Volta</a>, DS1!&#39;s music resides comfortably in the underground and speaks to those on the fringes of society. They have been guarded about most aspects of the band with their only online presence being on Instagram (@ds1fm). DS1! prefers to employ old school methods to reach people, like posting cryptic flyers, performing crazy stunts that command attention, and through word of mouth. They are cultivating a cult-like following in the underground.

In early 2020, DS1! released singles, &quot;Exit Ringo&quot; and &quot;Hikikomori,&quot; from their second full length album, Doomers (Releasing April 2020). Doomers, the second coming of DS1!, is a mixed grab bag of spaghetti western, dance punk, and lo-fi thrashing. This record follows the loose concept of a possessed gunslinger, a mind controlling sex worker, and a pill popping rock star. Written, recorded, and pieced together over an 8 month on-off working schedule, this record is a product of patience, lots of (like, a lot) broken gear, and slight insanity. Each tuning, note, riff and lyric was carefully chosen to provide a desired effect. DS1! continues to perform live sparingly in basements, DIY venues, dive bars, and the sinister spaces in between.
