Duke And The Drivers

Last updated: 2 hours ago

There’s a reason they are known in the Dukedom as “THE LEGENDARY PARTY BAND OF ALL TIME.” It was common for the Driver’s to break all house attendance records wherever they appeared. At the legendary “Paul’s Mall” in Boston, the Drivers hold, in perpetuity, the five-day attendance record as well as for the highest nightly liquor sales. For good measure, the fans ripped out the ceiling after the show.
This fierce loyalty was duplicated at ‘The Agora Ballroom’ in Cleveland and the ‘Starwood Lounge’ on La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles, at ‘The Bottom Line’ in New York City, and hundreds of juke joints and roadhouses in between. With their singles in the “Hot 100,” whenenever you came to see the Duke, the Drivers pumped out a tight and entertaining Rock and Roll show. As the Duke would say- “Those boys can stop on a dime and give you nine cents change”
Each night just before storming the stage, the cry went up, “Are you ready, boys? Its SHOWTIME”
Propelled by the loyal fan following and the perpetual party they brought along, Duke and the Drivers were a favorite of all the club owners and promoters, consistently delivering that large, loyal and more than a little bit crazy crowd to sold-out performances across the land.
From their roots at the original “Western Front” in Cambridge to the big stages at the Boston Garden, and Utah’s massive Salt Palace Arena, it was always true that, “When the Duke was in town, there was a party going down.”
