Duncan is a guitarist and composer from Edinburgh, with 20 years experience.
An artist as much at home composing contemporary soundtracks and instrumental arrangements as he is penning catchy indie/pop songs and providing guitars duties for other artists. And Duncan seems to have a flair for switching between them!
Having been part of ensembles almost exclusively in the past, Duncan wrote and released his first solo record - the ‘Power of Suggestion EP’ - in Dec 2016. With echoes of the 90s guitar scene and a heavy focus on melody, tracks like Forest Fire and Running stand up to scrutiny and pay homage to Duncan’s indie heroes.
Duncan’s EP was closely followed by stand alone single ‘When Echoes Don’t Come Back’ in early 2017, which gave off a summer vibe with its bright, uptempo guitars and an unmistakably catchy chorus.
But Duncan’s first love has always been composing contemporary instrumental music and in 2018 he started work on his first major instrumental record. Working closely with producer Andrew Howden, the aptly titled Edinburgh Ghosts EP was released in October 2018. A haunting concept record - blending guitars, synths, strings and percussion - Duncan’s debut instrumental record aims to ‘voice’ the atmosphere of Edinburgh and capture its mood in music.
Together with his previous releases, Edinburgh Ghosts underlines Duncan’s credentials as an all round composer and artist.
