dustin finds himself living in the constant tension of being born into a family full of baptist preachers, anti-drinkers, & narrow-minded thinkers. contrast that with many of his adult nights now being spent in bars raising glasses of whiskey, cussing from stage, & singing songs about love, loss, faith, doubt & everything in between.


“because i’ve been in & around the church for so long”, dustin shares, “people often ask am i a ‘christian artist’. i hate that question. art is art. it can’t be ‘christian’ or ‘muslim’ or ‘atheistic’. i would just like to think of myself as an ‘honest’ artist - but most musical style drop-down boxes don’t have that option. i write songs about Jesus & about picking up women at bars. i’ll be a saint & a sinner in the same day; hell - the same minute.”


as a result - dustin simply considers himself a storyteller. “i hope to write a soundtrack that hits everything”, he says. “i’ve been heartbroken & i’ve broken hearts. i’ve given up on church yet not on Jesus. i’ve been the life of the party drinking with friends & i’ve been paralyzed with depression & anxiety. i’ve been faithful & faithless. if my songs don’t reflect all of those things - i’m not being honest about my story & that’s what i want to be more than anything.”


dustin’s unconventional musical palate runs the same widespread gamut that his lyric topics do; from piano ballads to his normal go-to angsty blend of rock, blues, & country he refers to as ‘southern fried rock’.
