DD aka Dwop I am a young Congolese rapper and songwriter. I was born in Uganda then later came to Canada when I was 3 years old”, he says. “I always had an interest in music coming from a Christian family—music played a big role growing up. I enjoyed playing the drums and piano.” Music and faith often go hand in hand. There are so many artists who have begun their musical journey coming out of a Christian household. In “Fo Real”, Dwop raps “never thought that I’d be rapping, gotta get it, might just sign a deal”.
“Fo Real” is the artists latest single and features fellow Ottawa Artist FTG Reggie. “That’s crodie no cap! Most of us from the west end went to the same school and lived our lives in the same neighbourhood” he tells us. “The single is about me making a point that I’m here and here to stay. I also speak about overcoming the obstacles and struggles of my environment. I just want to inspire and motivate to show the youth that you can do anything you put your mind to.”
