After years behind the decks as a DJ, curating sounds for the dancefloor, a new creative urgency took hold of the artist formerly known as Numa Sonora. It was the need to stop interpreting the world and start soundtracking it; a need to transform written thoughts on satire, hope, and social critique into fully-realized musical worlds. This is the genesis of DYSTOPIC.
DYSTOPIC is the audiovisual project of Paris-based, Barcelona-raised producer Manuel Zafra. He crafts electronic anthems for our current dystopia, forging a unique "spatial" sound by blending years of expertise in Ableton with a forward-thinking approach to AI and generative tools. The result is a sonic landscape of futuristic dance beats and robotic vocals that serve one purpose: to tell stories. With a mix of acidic humor and social commentary drawn from his Spanish-Mexican roots, and a core of pacifist hope, DYSTOPIC creates more than just tracks; he creates transmissions from a not-so-distant future that feels uncannily like today.
"Peace" is his debut single. It was born from the desire to create a pacifist anthem for our turbulent times, wrapped in a sci-fi thought experiment: what if humanity's inability to end conflict required a little... alien intervention to save us from our own greed? It’s a track that finds hope and a touch of humor in the face of global injustice.
