Hailing from Chicago, IL, Echo Kellum is a director, actor, writer, musician and producer based in LA. From a very early age he was introduced to a diverse range of music, from Rakim to Peter Gabriel to The Beatles. But it was his brother, one of the founding members of the Gangster rap group L.E.P., who really sparked his love for making music and writing.
Echo would describe his music as experimental hip-hop, but truth be told, he just makes whatever feels good. Sometimes it's rock, sometimes it's pop... but most of the time, it just needs a beat that slaps.
If you asked him who some of his biggest musical influences are, he'd probably say, "A Tribe Called Quest, Aphex Twin, Logic, London Elektricity, Daft Punk, Tyler the Creator, Vampire Weekend, Radiohead, Childish Gambino, Joji, Animal Collective and his Mom," just to name a few.
For now, Echo is 100 percent independent. He also produces and writes all his songs and beats.
