Echoes Lab is a leftfield bass producer and DJ. The sound runs from hypnotic downtempo to low-slung trap to deep dubstep.
Born in Los Angeles and raised in Las Vegas with summers back in LA, Echoes Lab grew up on two soundtracks. A household rotation of Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and the Beatles, and the West Coast hip-hop his mom played constantly, 2Pac, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and the rest of that lineage. He picked up a guitar at ten and taught himself off tabs, but the rigidity of learning an instrument the traditional way never stuck.
That changed in 2019, when his wife introduced him to Zeds Dead. The festival and rave circuit that followed pulled him in fast. The strange, alien noises electronic music could make, and the realization that there was no ceiling on what a sound could be. In 2020 he opened Ableton for the first time and didn't stop, teaching himself production through all-night tutorial sessions in a way that finally clicked where traditional instruments never had. Once he trusted the songs he was making, he picked up DJing and throwing house parties for friends in 2021. Now playing regularly across the region, Echoes Lab spends his time between Las Vegas and home base in Denver.
The name traces straight back to that origin: Echoes, after the Pink Floyd track that shaped his ear as a kid, and Lab, for the hands-on, take-it-apart-and-rebuild-it instinct he brings to the work. He builds and releases his own production tools alongside the music itself.
