Midnight Son (formerly known as Ed Washington) is a genre-defying artist and producer rooted in the heart of Anchorage, Alaska. With a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a foundation in classical voice from the University of Alaska Anchorage, Midnight Son brings vocal mastery, soulful depth, and bold originality to everything he touches.
A force in the Alaska music scene, he’s earned three Alaska Hip Hop & R&B Awards, a legislative citation for his impact on his community, and has played a major role in shaping the sonic identity of his hometown. Whether he’s performing solo or collaborating behind the boards, his work commands attention.
He made waves as a multi-instrumentalist and co-writer with indie powerhouse Medium Build, contributing to standout tracks like “Good At Being Lonely,” “Rabbit,” and “Especially Me.” He also lent his talents to Quinn Christopherson’s acclaimed debut, co-writing the fan favorite “Evelene.”
Now stepping fully into his own spotlight, Midnight Son has released three boundary-pushing projects as Ed Washington since his 2018 debut. His latest album, Hedonism (2022), cemented his place as a voice of the city—earning him Best Singer-Songwriter, Best R&B Artist, and Best Hip-Hop Artist in the Anchorage Press Picks.
Offstage, he’s a dedicated craftsman, casual Fortnite champ, and proud husband to his creative partner Kala—and cat dad to Paulo.
His new album, Cynicism, arrives May 15, 2025—a fearless new chapter in an already remarkable journey.
