EDA NIVES hails from Melton Mowbray. Growing up in a musical family immersed in the Leicester music scene, it was pretty apparent that she would follow in similar footsteps. From sitting at sound desks to singing and playing the harmonica at local venues with her stepdad, any opportunity to jam was taken. Eda’s early influences included Stevie Wonder, Bach and Stephen Sondheim, broadening over the years to classic pop, soul (a lot of 90’s RnB) and chart music. A stint in musical theatre didn’t last as she was thrown out for refusing to conform. Her rich voice and experimentation with songwriting blossomed, channeling sweetness, salty humour and emotion, recently catching the ears of a crack team of writer-producers. She doesn’t like spiders but is also cocky as f**k. Described most recently as ‘it’s like Lily Allen and Jessie J had a love child’, everything’s coming together.
