EDMX is the second most productive alias of British electronic musician Edward Upton, best known as DMX Krew. Like his primary moniker, Upton's EDMX output is rooted in the electro innovations of the 1980s, but can venture anywhere from acid techno to abstract dub. The MPC Trax series, initiated in 2000 and released through Upton's own Breakin' Records, focuses on charged-up electro-bass tracks, while releases like 2012's Cerberus and 153 Mission explore hardcore techno and acid, and 2020's World Phaser is an exercise in sideways dancehall.

Upton began releasing music as DMX Krew in 1995, quickly signing to Aphex Twin's Rephlex label and issuing a series of records that faithfully emulated influences like old-school hip-hop, new romantic, and freestyle. While still recording for Rephlex, Upton founded Breakin' Records in 1997, and began releasing tracks that updated classic electro and Miami bass music for a new generation. His first releases as EDMX appeared in 2000, beginning with several volumes of the MPC Trax EP series, as well as Bass Mix, a rapid-fire continuous CD of original productions. Soon after came a pair of mash-up 7"s on the secret sublabel Devon Records, as well as the 2002 techno EP Pent Up on Nitsa Recordings. MPC Trax Volume 10, including a megamix by Detroit ghettotech legend Disco D, appeared in 2003. It's House, a collaboration with Yuri Suzuki, was issued by Affected Music in 2006. The following year, Can't Remember was released by Hieroglyphic Being's Mathematics Recordings, and the 7" single "R 100" was issued by Swedish skweee label Flogsta Danshall.

Quantised Universe, another hypercharged electro EP, was released by Breakin' in 2008. 2K3 Beats, informed by U.K. garage and dancehall, appeared on Frijsfo Beats in 2009. An untitled EP on Breakin', co-produced by Suzuki and Qwerty, came out later in the year. EDMX ventured into harder techno with two 2012 EPs, Cerberus (Power Vacuum) and 153 Mission (Shipwrec), as well as 2013's Frozen Stomp. 2014's Wicked Drummer, released by Skrufix, was a mixture of acid, breakbeat, and garage. Ash Cloud, a 2015 EP on Abstract Acid, contained crunchy acid house tracks. He returned to Power Vacuum in 2016 with Mind Mechanixx, a tougher hybrid of industrial and braindance. Also issued the same year were two playful, untitled EPs on Ride the Gyroscope. Following several DMX Krew full-lengths issued throughout the late 2010s, Upton's first EDMX release of the 2020s was World Phaser (Queen Nanny Records), an album of stripped-down dancehall and dub rhythms. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
