Eely is a pianist and composer based in Oakland, California. Raised on jazz piano lessons and his dad’s 70s folk and rock records at home, he fuses jazz elements with rock in introspective songs. His genre-bending music is rooted in improvisation, lyricism and cinematic undertones. Fans report that they love the moody, bittersweet music for the imagery it evokes, often of a rainy day or at times another world. Eely coined the term fog rock, inspired by the fog in the SF Bay Area, a meeting of melancholic jazz chords with rock composition.
