Billing themselves as a "bi-coastal black metal/hard rock" unit, Eerie's brooding blend of '70s heavy prog, bluesy stoner metal, and yes, black metal, places the American group within the increasingly genre-melding pantheon of early 21st century heavy music. Invoking the names of contemporaries like <a href="spotify:artist:5ZG7r3Jg0Y1hGQRMQ8hdRs">Inter Arma</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0VE0GTaTSeeGSzrQpLmeb9">Kvelertak</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:213mmq3zkNWx7CtfzftTC5">Skeletonwitch</a>, the band features the talents of lauded tattoo artist and former <a href="spotify:artist:4ueuXzGilot65euwJYz0zm">Twilight</a> guitar player Tim Lehi, bass player Dave Sweetapple (<a href="spotify:artist:6uNOBEATMcW8SSunnKy9a3">Witch</a>), drummer Moses Saarni (<a href="spotify:artist:2TlxaFM277sVYg2X2vUv8q">Futur Skullz</a>), and vocalist <a href="spotify:artist:1ZWBiHBcLUipUMKyF2SmLM">Shane Baker</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:3zJS1GjZWHrEULW0dK8Def">Alaric</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4TC9ecG8IofIHiRrY542vj">Pins of Light</a>). Shortly after the long-gestating project came to fruition, the band headed to Oakland's Earhammer Audio to begin laying down tracks with producer Greg Wilkinson (<a href="spotify:artist:5T1dDRWd0885FMI7BihUJM">Graves at Sea</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1UKozzDpsuCLjwE7u5Xjdq">Vastum</a>). The resulting eponymous debut was released in July 2016 on <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Teepee+Records%22">Teepee Records</a>. Bassist Dave Sweetapple died on August 9, 2024, at the age of 58. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
