The musical project "Eightynine" was born in 2019 by Michael Sutera and Daniele Durato. With their musical experiences in various genres, they decided to share their ideas and their passion for the pop-punk / punk-rock genre by composing original music. Their first song "Hold On" was released in April 2020, with a typical "Californian" sound.
After this first experimentation the duo felt the need to devote themselves more to the musical part. They decided to search for a third musician who could raise the quality level of the project with a main focus on vocal performance.
A few months after the release of “Hold On”, Michael and Daniele enlisted Andy Mastele, a musician and singer from Pittsburgh who looked suitable for the project. The trio began to work on some songs during the late summer of 2020. In November of the same year, the first song with the new line-up was released; a skate-punk track entitled "Strangers" (available as videoclip on Youtube and Facebook).
On March 2021 a new track entitled "Open Up" was released. This song has more elements of pop-rock and is accompanied by a playthrough video clip made in the home studios of the band members.
Eightynine continues to meld their individual experiences together to deliver a modern pop-punk experience while keeping true to their pop-punk roots. The main influences of the band are traditional pop-punk acts such as Blink 182, Neck Deep, Boxcar Racer, +44, Sum 41 etc.
