Eishin Nose is a jazz pianist and composer from Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan. He moved to the United States in 1992, beginning his career in California before relocating to New York City He studied jazz piano under legendary figures such as Jaki Byard, Richie Beirach, Phil Markowitz, Barry Harris, and Russ Lossing. He also pursued classical piano studies with Herman Diaz.Throughout his career, Nose has performed with a diverse array of musicians from around the world. Highlights include collaborations with James Cammack ,Duane Cook, Matt Wilson, Eliot Zigmund, Tony Morrello, Jeff Williams, Gregoire Maret, Dave Ambrosio, Tim Amacosta, Travis Sullivan, Bob Meyer, Yosuke Inoue, Taro Koyama, Satoshi Takeishi,

His creative output spans cutting-edge New York jazz, works inspired by his native Hokkaido, world music, and collaborations with orchestras. He is also active as a film composer.
Nose’s accolades include the S&R Washington Award (2009), becoming the first jazz artist to receive the honor, the Hokkaido Cultural Encouragement Award (2023), and eight Top 10 Special Awards from the International Songwriting Competition (ISC), selected from over 25,000 entries.

With a deep commitment to groove, melody, and free improvisation, he continues to develop his own unique musical universe.
