El Colosso is a heavy rock band from Melbourne, Australia, featuring the talents of guitarist Benny James, drummer Peter Hayden, bassist Alex Hayes and singer Matt Cooper.
Over the last four years the band has built a formidable reputation as one of the country's best live bands - blending huge riffs with infectious hooks to produce a massive sound that honours it's 70's & 90’s roots, just as it creates a modern heavy rock vibe.
In 2017 El Colosso released their debut long-player Pathways, a monster album self-produced by the band, recorded by Finn Keane (John Spencer Blues Explosion, Wilco, Franz Ferdinand, Jet) at Headgap Studios and mixed by Jez Giddings (Airbourne, Clowns, The Living End) at Hothouse Audio.
El Colosso has played international support shows with Thunder (UK) at The Corner Hotel, Seether (South Africa) at The Forum Theatre, Ruins Alone (Japan) at The Bella Union, Voivod (Canada) at Max Watts and Corrosion of Conformity (Max Watts).
In 2018, El Colosso completed their debut European Tour, courtesy of Belgian-based agency Teenage Head Music (Dirt River Radio, Palace of the King, Little Ceasar, Robert John and the Wreck). This tour took in five nations (Germany, France, Slovakia, Belgium, Spain) and consisted of 22 shows in four weeks.
El Colosso begins recording the follow-up to Pathways in March 2019, recording at Woodstock Studios, Melbourne, with Richard Stolz (Paul Kelly, Elvis Costello, Superheist). The album will be released mid-2020
