Starting out as a three-piece band in 2016, El Fatso won the audience award of Eendracht Festival 7.0 while playing their first gig. In 2017 the band released their &#39;Pro Bono Mixtape&#39;, containing the singles &#39;<a href="spotify:track:1Pba5LatkEbCW8LC3Vwr99" data-name="Rodion">Rodion</a>&#39; and &#39;<a href="spotify:track:2iKxNgHJw6NoGfTCquLoRf" data-name="Fatsination">Fatsination</a>&#39;. ‘Rodion’ was the most listened track on Reddit (and featured on multiple playlists, e.g. <a href="spotify:playlist:6Y1tAPbiw33uAZBjz6DTJD" data-name="r/ListenToThis">r/ListenToThis</a>). The band expanded when guitar player Lennard van den Akker was asked to join the band in the summer of 2017. In 2018 the now four-piece played lots of shows in The Netherlands and did a tour in Spain. The release show of their debut EP &#39;<a href="spotify:album:2Sncw8Scy2AwIKIQH1vDVj" data-name="El Fatso">El Fatso</a>&#39; in home town Rotterdam was completely sold out. They played the finale of the band contest Nobel Award 2019, in which they also introduced the fifth member of the band: Thomas Gribnau on guitar and synthesizer. They played supports shows for <a href="spotify:artist:5n5UCNxaTQJhx931cyJ4XU" data-name="Ten Times A Million">Ten Times A Million</a> in February and August 2020 and played the finale for De Grote Prijs van Rotterdam in 2021.
