Born in Luanda, Angola, with Congolese roots, Jovánio Mbemba — artistically known as El Gino — is a Kizomba, Afrobeats, and Afrofusion singer, songwriter, and producer with a sensual yet electrifying sound. His unique blend of raw emotion and rhythm brings a distinct voice to the Pan-African music scene.
Raised in Windhoek, Namibia from the age of 4, he spent 10 years immersed in Southern African culture before returning to Angola. After his parents' divorce, he lived across various households, influenced by Namibian, Congolese, Zambian, and Angolan families — shaping his rich, multicultural identity.
His musical path began at 10, inspired by his elder brother. But the roots run deeper — their mother, Dr. Isabel Cristina Neves, once sang in church and backed gospel and mainstream artists in Angola. In early 2019, he made his debut with “Teu Rei,” a breakout single that earned him regional recognition and caught the attention of established artists. In 2021, he released his first EP, “African Drug,” a soulful, genre-blending project that continues to resonate with fans today.
His sound is shaped by Luanda’s energy, Congo’s soul, and a nomadic journey across cultures — music that moves bodies and speaks to hearts.
