Beginning as a creative outlet for Mark Doucette during the initial Canadian lockdown orders in 2020, EL PSY KONGROO gradually took shape over a year in isolation. Enlisting the help of Brandon Aitchison and Tanner McNab, what began as a simple exercise in writing heavier music than Doucette's previous solo work developed into a cohesive blend of genres, from hard rock to black metal. In early 2021, the group released "Make It Out Alive", a song anchored by a weighty guitar groove that snakes between Aitchison's screams, and a triumphant chorus led by Doucette's tenor. The group is currently working on their debut album, to be released late 2021.
