Piano prodigy Elaine Yu spent her childhood competing in local piano competitions winning second places in both Biggars Music Competition and Glasgow Music Festival. As an avid YouTuber, she garnered a following around her impressive piano videos. Playing and performing pieces beyond her years, audiences were surprised and in awe of the skillset of this young pianist. Under the tutelage of Jemma Brown, she flourished and developed unique interpretations of the works of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart.

In 2014, Tom Binns started Glasgow Piano City and Elaine's uploaded street piano performances were seen by more than one million viewers around the globe.

Music activity died down for a while when Elaine attended University of Aberdeen's Bachelor of Geology and Physics programme. Although relaxing weekends were spent arranging pop and rock songs on the piano which were then published on Sheet Music Plus and now are also available on Sheet Music Direct. Several of the arrangements also appeared on Marioverhrer's channel, gaining her hundreds of thousands of views.

After gaining her ABRSM Grade 8 certificate in 2020, parents encouraged her to pursue a piano teaching career. And so since July 2021, Elaine has been taking on home-based and online tutees.

Moving into a professional recording artist career, Elaine released her debut album, My Journey, in December 2023. This was completely funded by The Prince's Trust's grant as a part of the Enterprise Programme.
