In 2022 Elaska was hospitalised for three weeks shortly after receiving a diagnosis of bi-polar disorder. The clinic that he stayed in did not allow phones, laptops or any music or television. But they had an old piano in the common area. He started playing around with the same three chords and eventually wrote his latest single "Wait For London" on that piano. The song features a recording of that piano and is about the breakdown of his last relationship, which he left behind in London after he was forced to come back home during the pandemic.
Elaska used to sing in a signed band with his sister, POP favourite BOI, playing around Australia and even getting invited to CMJ and SXSW in America. When the band broke up he moved to the UK to find himself ……
….but all he found was drugs and girls.
He writes about his experiments with hedonism, substances and sex and the things that led to his bipolar diagnosis and sobriety.
