Embla Maria O’Cadiz Gustad is a Norwegian solo-artist. She resides in Oslo and currently works on releasing her debut album. Embla describes her sound as indietronic reminiscent of Karin Drejer and Björk. Other influences include Lapalux and Aphex Twin.
She is a former member of the Norwegian shoegaze band LOVELOVELOVE, having performed on their first EP «Your Heart Stops with the Beat» in 2012. Embla also contributes to other Oslo-based projects such as Nomzi Kumalo and Haris - exploring multiple genres and roles in collaboration with other musicians.
In her debut single «False Awakening» Embla speaks of revelations from her bathtub; exploring spiritual dimensions of anxiety. She paints emotive landscapes with organic synthesizers and distorted vocals, letting the listener absorb a minimalistic — yet chaotic — artistic expression.
