Hi, I’m Robyn! Emerson's my last name and holds a lot of symbolism for me. Both sides of my family have unclear roots, with Emerson being a foster name. This unknown background has always fascinated me and my surname now tends to remind me of a nomadic energy, which has definitely influenced my music’s persona. I was born in Romford, but I moved around a lot with my mum growing up; From our hometown in Shakespeares’ birthplace, Stratford-Upon-Avon, to London, and then a few years in L.A.; This constant shifting has impacted the eclectic style of sound my music’s developed.
After my first collection of singles during COVID, I took some time away from music. I thought I’d fallen out of love with it, which is terrifying when you’ve made it your identity since you can remember. I hung out with my Tarot cards, numbingly partied, and then completed a teacher training in Kundalini Yoga… This helped me strengthen my belief in what I used to question: from things like my Higher Self and the energy of my ancestors, to energy healing and powerful dreams. Like any classic, story arc, I ended up returning to myself and learnt that it wasn’t my love for music that had left, I just wasn’t the same artist I was before and I needed to shed that skin. I’ve now come back with a better relationship with the craft, using music for reflection, celebration, and manifestation, and I hope you feel that you can as well.
