Emil Efferbach combines his vocals and acoustic guitar with a passion for film scores and ambient soundscapes. He seeks to tell stories with his music in both the intimate experience from an unplugged session to the grandiose. Experimental yet accessible and rich with emotion, his music often explores the development of simple ideas over time.
With a background as a drummer in musical styles ranging from highlife all the way to progressive rock he draws a lot of inspiration for his unique sound design in a rich variety of percussive instruments such as singing bows, kalimbas and his own voice. He uses these to create textures that seem from another world yet still organic and inherently human. Beyond this, he also enjoys recording, sampling and warping different stringed and wind instruments in novel ways, combining these with synths and piano to create his signature other-wordly sounds.
