Hi, I'm Emily Ott and I'm an indie folk/rock, singer/songwriter from Pickering Ontario, Canada whose music serves as a vessel for experiences often too difficult to articulate. Growing up, I found comfort in music, turning to songwriting as a private, vulnerable form of communication to express what I struggled to say out loud.
My deeply honest lyrics pull directly from personal struggles, frequently exploring the strain of grappling with mental illness. This confessional, impactful style is heavily influenced by the raw intensity of artists like Julien Baker and Daughter, alongside the poetic rock of Frightened Rabbit and the narrative depth of songwriters like Ryan Adams and Neil Young.
Through my songs, my goal is simple: to offer listeners the same connection and comfort I found in music, transforming silent battles into resonant, relatable anthems to help them feel less alone.
