Self-declared illustrious, Emily Ryder was born of a fever dream in the back of a bus.

From Belfast they stumbled, through 1994’s ‘Cucumbercupidwounduplove’ debut album to ‘Born With A Sad Gene’, their final record in 1999.

The ‘Otto Stands Alone’ EP (originally as part of Immortal Recordings’ ‘Immortal Story’ collection in 1996) and single ‘Transistors Blast and Disco Babies Scream’ (originally from Immortal Recordings’ 1997 ‘Hit The North’ compilation) bridged the gap between the two albums.

The ‘Me As A Girl’ EP collects their Adam and the Ants and Supremes covers from 1999 together.

With a sound that ranged from the glam punk snarl of ‘Female Shirt’ to the wistful elegy of ‘Maple Ridge’, Emily Ryder were restless, inventive and never on an even keel.
