Based in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, UK. Singer-songwriter-producer-musician Matt Kassell started Emker Cel as a solo project in 2016. The eponymous debut album, released on Matt’s own Seahouse Records label, led to the formation of a live band, who contributed to the recording of the next album From The Waves in 2018. A pair of EPs and a few singles followed as Matt concentrated on producing other artists, and running the Seahouse Records label and Digital Man Recording studio.
December 2022 saw a re-mixed version of festive fave Blue Xmas released. New material soon followed: Death Of Dreams and Understood were released as singles from a new album. “You Are Everything You Are” is the third album released in December 2023.
In 2024 Matt formed the Emker Cel trio with Kerry Simpson (bass) and Jonny Swift (drums). The band played sets of entirely new material throughout the year including the single Secondary Colours. A new album is written and in the works (MK Nov 24).
