Emma Aviles

Emma Aviles is a 24-year-old local bay area musician. She’s the lead singer of her band “Sun-Dial” where she uploaded one EP of 90’s-2000’s cover songs, and wrote a love song “Breathe Again” with fellow Marin musician Gabe Gunns. She puts such time and care into each and every one of her songs. Her genres include 90’s pop, punk, indie and folk. She finds peace and solace in writing poetry every day, and through these she finds inspiration to write her songs. She loves to write about what’s closest to her heart, love, heartache, and every small aspect of the beauty of life. This includes the simple beauty of the seasons, for example Summer is a Woman, and the passion of love, like “Breathe again” under her band's profile “Sun-Dial.” She’s also not afraid to express anger, pain and vulnerability in her lyrics. She draws inspiration from Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega, Alanis Morissette, Olivia Rodrigo and Blink 182. She believes music is powerful because it encapsulates nostalgia, the depth of life and the most beautiful emotions.
