Emma Donovan has one of Australia’s most powerful and beloved voices. A proud Gumbaynggirr and Yamatji artist, she’s spent her life blending soul, gospel, and country with the storytelling traditions of her culture.

After years fronting the acclaimed soul outfit The Putbacks and performing with legends like Archie Roach, Paul Kelly and Yothu Yindi, Emma steps into a new chapter with Take Me To The River — a soulful reimagining of Al Green’s classic that reflects her own family’s deep connection to Country and community.

The single marks the beginning of a new soul era and the first taste of her upcoming album, due in 2026. It also accompanies her powerful live show Take Me To The River, which reimagines her catalogue through music, visuals and storytelling, following appearances at Wanderer Festival and the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

This is soul music reimagined — powerful, personal, and unmistakably Emma Donovan.
