Easy-chair jungle outfit Endemic Void have carried out one of the more successful fusions of jazz, dub, and spacy ambient atmospherics in a drum'n'bass context. The one-man project of dance music producer Danny Koffey (previously known for his work with more straightforward acid house and techno outfits <a href="spotify:artist:55bkpmIfvggwrDi3T1squ9">Slipstream</a> and Strictly Rockers), Endemic Void began as a side-project deviation from the rigid demands of those groups, although the project's popularity quickly transformed it to full-time status. Signing with ex-<a href="spotify:artist:4WkFf12XddnybDrZ1KfxNC">Moody Boyz</a> <a href="spotify:artist:0bGWaOPlgV2snPdJGbjDpE">Tony Thorpe's</a> Language label in 1995, Endemic Void released a 12-inch and the debut Equations LP in 1996, which earned instant praise as some of the most listenable examples of drum'n'bass to still maintain a hard, innovative edge. Remixes for artists such as <a href="spotify:artist:3AO9jmM1JTooPNcu9tTyZx">Meat Beat Manifesto</a> and the Swedish Dot label's Quant followed, with Reinforced's <a href="spotify:artist:67f7dMOQQn2j3zpTgvAPrT">Shogun</a> and No-U-Turn's <a href="spotify:artist:5Xlz84rhSNhlWzfAtVBJr1">Nico Sykes</a> in turn trying their hands at EV originals.
