Envoq (In-voke) best describes his style of music as alternative rap, usually following that up with “I’m not a rapper, I’m a Viber.” He attributes his style to his unique background and doesn’t miss a chance to remind people that his essence cannot be defined or boxed in. Moving back and forth between the East and West coast as a child, Envoq’s music captures the best of both worlds with his seamless combination of Southern hip-hop flows similar to Goodie Mob with the animated “in-yo-face” West Coast rap style of Spice 1 and E-40. Other influences include out-of-this-world sounds by DJ Quik, The Police, and 3-6 Mafia. Lately, he has been vibing with his African influences, and this is reflected in his recent music.
