Originally formed in late 2013, EREBOR conjures a unique, distinct blend of progressive death metal. Over the years, they solidified their position as one of the fastest, most technical bands in the burgeoning UK metal scene. A fact that was only strengthened with the release of their debut album, Inherent Malevolence (2021).
However, with their sophomore release, EREBOR decided to go down a different route. Their technical prowess now established, the band's efforts focused instead towards building melody and atmosphere, while also eschewing the shorter song structures that they had been known to work within.
The result of this effort is Infinitus Somnium, a watershed release for the band. One that redefines their sound from one steeped in American tech-death, to something unique unto itself. Instead of being a collection of singles, each song on the album was written to seamlessly flow into the next, with reoccurring motifs that further help to tie each song together, making the entire album into a single, cohesive, musical journey.
Infinitus Somnium was primarily self-recorded, with only the drums and vocals being handled by Sam Turbitt of Ritual Studios. Sam was also responsible for the mixing and mastering of the album, artwork for which was crafted by Erskine Designs.
