Eric Braun

Eric Braun is a musician, recording engineer & producer from Calgary, Alberta. From growing up and moving around several small towns in the prairies, to finally settling in the big city, Eric presents songs laden with themes of introspection and lament, but “with a hint of hopefulness - at least that’s how I hope it comes across.”

Eric’s most recent work is a 3-part concept album, combining his roots as a singer-songwriter, his instrumental side-project Pilcrow, and a full band record. “The idea was to create a very full sounding record, with layers of instruments and vocals, but then break that into two parts, released separately before the final record.” Peaks is a stripped down acoustic album, where the songwriting and solo performance are the focal point. Valleys is an atmospheric instrumental album, meant for listening while reading or studying. Finally, layering the two on top of each other, Peaks & Valleys is a full band album with layers and textures that present an entirely new listening experience. “The original idea was that people could play both Peaks and Valleys at the same time and get the same experience, though I quickly realized this would be difficult for people to do so I decided on combining and releasing them together as a full, separate album.”

Peaks by Eric Braun and Valleys by Pilcrow will be released August 4th, with Peaks & Valleys set to release on August 25th.
