Eric Sturr is a multi-instrumentalist who has been composing music for The Wild Center since 2020. These songs were written for their Forest Music exhibit, a 3/4 mile trail which consists of twenty-four speakers embedded in the woods. This three dimensional soundscape, which immerses the listener in their wooded environs, has been featured on NPR, ILoveNY, as well several major podcasts.
"Winter" "Taiga" "Radiance" and the newest album "Watershed" were all written with a sound specifically written for the beautiful winter season the Adirondacks are famously known for. These songs range from introspective (<a href="spotify:track:3URQRzTP92dRcNsubNEmLc" data-name="Grandfather Grandson">Grandfather Grandson</a>), to serene (Eve), to Vince Guaraldi-esque jazz combos (TBD)
"Iron Harvest" is a series of sketches written to be paired with the metal sculpture work of Barney Bellinger. These songs, written primarily for marimba and violin, capture the essence of man vs nature.
"Totality" was designed to sync up perfectly with the total solar eclipse that occurred on April 8th, 2024. The pairing of orchestral instruments and synthesizers was used to convey the essence of a phenomenon that is naturally occurring, but feels unnatural and surreal at the same time. Initially written as one 15 minute track, Totality is broken into 4 distinct movements.
