Esgazette is an independent recording project that has been active since the 1980s. It began in London and is now based in Scotland. It is at the same time both a band with songs and an extensive catalogue of instrumentals. While broadly described as alternative electronic, there is no musical plan for Esgazette. So you may find a pop song next to a piece of musique concrète. Good luck.

With so much music to discover, the curious listener will find a variety of sound even across one album. The numbered instrumental series can vary from the first album’s experiments with electronica and atmospheric interludes to number five, an unsettling collection of wintery soundscapes and found sounds. More recently the album Tide Tables is a collaboration with neoclassical composer Edward Newell who plays cello and piano alongside studio processing. The song albums are a blend of post-rock and electronic and feature the project’s founder Will Datson on vocals with several guest vocalists. For example, the 2007 album Legerdemain has the American actor and singer Deb’bora fronting a series of quirky and theatrical songs.
