Ethan Askey is a musician, singer, songwriter, bandleader and collaborator in the Canadian Rockies. An emerging voice in the contemporary blues scene worldwide, and one who colours outside the lines into funk, rock, and Americana roots genres, Ethan’s virtuosity as a harmonica player has been recognized with awards, nominations, positive reviews and repeat invitations.

His debut solo album Walk When You Wanna Run (2022, Independent) gained and sustained the attention of radio program hosts around the world, earning a Top 50 position in radio play charts for 160 weeks. The album made the Roots Music Report “Best Of” (Top 200) lists for Contemporary Blues in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Since 1994 Ethan has played throughout western Canada; on legendary stages in Memphis and Chicago; and at festivals, theatres and clubs across Europe. With a diversity of independent artists he has collaborated in both live performance and studio session work. He’s also been opener, guest, or supporting band member to some of the world’s best in blues, including John Mayall (Bluesbreakers), John Primer (Muddy Waters), Amos Garrett (Paul Butterfield’s Better Days), Tim Williams, and Robert Cray.

Ethan creates and performs new music with Ethan Askey & The Elevators. Their new album Outside the Lines landed in the Top 10 Canada Albums for July 2026 on the Big Blues Chart.
