Singaporean singer-songwriter, Ethel Yap, released her first single, Beautiful and her first EP, Ethel Yap in 2017, touching listeners with her brand of authentic, heartfelt storytelling through song. In 2018, she released Like and collaborated with fellow artist-sojourners on Poets & Prophets: Songs of Justice later in 2021.
Following the intimate confessions of her first EP, Ethel Yap’s sophomore effort, Ethel Yap Vol 2, (releasing soon) continues her journey of introspective reflection, charting her growth over the past 7 years from a twenty-something searching for identity and meaning, to a thirty-something mother, postpartum anxiety and depression survivor, and artist coming into her own. Ethel Yap Vol 2 retains Ethel’s signature folk style, while exploring cinematic, pop and rock elements in a refreshed sound to tell more stories from her life.
Outside of music, Ethel is a mainstay of the Singaporean theatre industry, having acted in a wide variety of plays, musicals and other works over a career that spans more than a decade.
