Born and raised in the Blue Mountains of Australia, Ev grew up in a household filled with classical music. As an early teenager he started playing bass and obsessing with Les Claypool, Flea & Charles Mingus. His diet of grunge and punk was slowly changing as he discovered his love of roots Reggae, which inevitably led him to find Toots Hibbert.
Toots voice began his love affair with singing, and whilst working grimy kitchen jobs throughout art school Ev found Otis Redding. Otis became his gateway drug to Soul music, so alluring, satisfying and almost impossible to give up.
And then came Cooke, Gaye, Franklin, Simone, Green, Hathaway, Withers and so many more.
Though drawing inspiration from so many artists and genres Ev still always goes back to the sweet tones and pop sensibilities of Sam Cooke and the raw uninhibited performance of Otis Redding.
He has been writing and releasing records with close childhood friend DJ Morgs (Thundamentals) under the duo’s band name ‘JONES Jnr.’ Who have a new record ready to release.
Ev also fronts and produces for Japanese based Alt/Soul Rockers 'H.K Amori' who debut EP is out now.
Stay tuned for further solo releases as Ev gets ready to show a fully self produced selection of solo songs.
