Channelling the ferocity of female-fronted indie rockers Jess Day and Paramore, an air of glittering nostalgia and charming honesty surrounds this Brisbane indie-rock Goddess, Evangie.
Evangie fearlessly cries emotion into every one of her songs, transporting audiences with her expressive, yet vulnerable vocals. Her sound is crafted with painfully honest lyrics infused with catchy melodies and hooks. If heartbreak has a sound – it’s captured wholly in Evangie’s emotive storytelling, connecting with those who relate to her lyrics.
After the success of Evangie’s debut single "Japan" receiving national and local radio play, as well as reaching number 1 on the Triple J Unearthed Indie and Rock Charts, it’s been a successful yet challenging year for this talented artist. Evangie became a finalist in Brisbane City Council's QUBE EFFECT and was awarded Best Overall Performance Award. She and her band also performed for Brisbane Street Serenades and released the music video for "Japan". Amongst all this success Evangie has struggled with her own mental health and hopes her music makes her audience not feel so alone in their own struggles and connect with them on a deeper level.
Evangie is set to release her long-awaited second single, “Deep Down”, on November 11th. “Deep Down” expresses Evangie’s experience of unreciprocated affection and how it left her with one big unanswered question, “deep down did you really care?”
